KEVIN BLACK - Head Coach @ British Columbia Sailing Association
Zac Plavsic is now among the top Olympic hopefuls. Today he is ranked 4th in the world and the number 1 ranked Canadian and North American in his Olympic class. I believe that Zac has several attributes that make him one of Canada’s most promising medal hopefuls. Zac is the hardest working athlete I have ever coached. He demonstrates an incredibly strong commitment to both the physical training, on and off the water, as well as the mental and tactical aspects to his sport. Another trait which benefits Zac in his Olympic quest is his character. He is an intelligent young man, who demonstrates compassion, leadership, and a very positive attitude. Zac has been invited to train with several other nations, the most recently the top ranked New Zealand and Netherlands teams, where he has lived, and is training with the best RSX sailors in the world. This is indeed a rare occurrence in the sport of sailing, a testament to how Zac is viewed by other nations.

Once in a while a very special individual comes along who demonstrates unusual promise and deserves to be nurtured, so that his total potential can be realized. Zac Plavsic belongs to that rare company. Canada too often looses its best people because we do not afford them the opportunities they require. Let us not allow Zac Plavsic to be one of them
